Dr. Saad Saad, a New Jersey pediatrics doctor, not only has helped numerous patients in the United States, but also has an impressive missions history in the Middle East. He has performed several surgeries on patients who have flown to the United States for difficult surgeries, and has also traveled to places such as Palestine, offering his talents and services to patients in need of complex treatment and surgeries.
Since 2002 he has worked with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, created in 1991 to address the medical needs of Arab children in the Middle East. Many medical services in Israel, Palestine, and surrounding areas can provide surgeries, but the complexities of some surgeries require expertise that was not available locally. He has performed three complex surgeries in the United States of children flown from home countries for surgeries.
He has also provided important surgeries and medical services in eight missions to Palestine. He served the underprivileged, and provided services patients would, otherwise, not have had access to or been able to afford. As part of the mission, Dr. Saad also trained Palestine doctors and staff in important medical procedures, surgeries and services so that local patients would have access to these services on a regular basis.
Since 2009 Palestine’s doctors received medical training from Dr. Saad, and by 2015 the majority of procedures were being conducted by local medical doctors due to missions and training. Trained doctors in complex medical procedures not only means local residents have access to the medical services they need, but it also reduces the cost of transporting patients to other countries for procedures local doctors can’t perform. The cost is very prohibitive, and knowledgeable local doctors means those costs are reduced.
Due to these important efforts Dr. Saad is the recipient of two awards. The organization that originally contacted him to perform surgeries in the United States, The PCRF, awarded him an important and distinctive humanitarian award in 2010. The Palestine Ministry of Health, the Governor of Ramallah also presented him with an award, based on his humanitarian services in the region. In addition, in 2015 Dr. Saad was received by the President of Palestine, Mr.Mahmoud Abbas, and awarded the prestigious Gold Medal of Palestine, due to his missions medical work.
Dr. Saad’s surgical practice is based in Eatontown, NJ, and he specializes in pediatric surgery and thoracic surgery.
